(11: 19) God can resurrect the dead
[19] Abraham thought surely God is able to raise the dead. So his son recovered, which has a symbolic meaning for us.
(CIC 992) The resurrection of the dead was gradually revealed by God to his people. The hope in the bodily resurrection of the dead established itself as an intrinsic consequence of faith in God the Creator of the whole man, soul and body. The creator of heaven and earth is also the one who faithfully maintains his covenant with Abraham and his descendants. In this double perspective begins to express faith in the resurrection. In their tests, the Maccabean martyrs confessed: "The King of the world to us that we die by its laws, will raise us to eternal life (2M 7, 9). It is better to die at the hands of men with the hope God gives of being raised again by him "(2M 7, 14. 29, Dn 12, 1-13). (CIC 1052) "We believe that the souls of those who die in the grace of Christ [...] are the People of God after death, which will be razed to the Day of Resurrection, in the these souls will be reunited with their bodies "( Credo of the People of God , 28). (CIC 1524) For those about to leave this life, the Church offers, in addition to the Anointing the sick, the Eucharist as per diem. Received in this time of the passage to the Father, the communion of the Body and Blood of Christ has a particular significance and importance. It is the seed of eternal life and resurrection power, in the words of the Lord: "Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise the last day" (Jn 6.54). Since it is a sacrament of Christ dead and risen, the Eucharist is here the sacrament of passing over from death to life in this world to the Father (Jn 13.1). (CIC 1525) Thus, as the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist form a unity called "the sacraments of initiation Christian "can be said that Penance, Holy Unction and the Eucharist as per diem, are, when the Christian life comes to an end," the sacraments that prepare to enter the country "or the sacraments that close the pilgrimage .
