Hb 11, 14-16 So God prepared the city

(11: 14-16) So God prepared the city

[14] Those who speak well, they clearly see that they go in search of a homeland, [15] because if they had longed for the land they had left, had the opportunity to return to it. [16] But no, they aspired to a better country, that is, to the sky. Therefore God is not ashamed of them or called their God, because he made them the city.

(CIC 60) The people born of Abraham is the depositary of the promises made to the patriarchs, the chosen people (cf. Rom 11:28), called to prepare for a meeting day all the children of God in the unity of the Church (cf. Jn 11.52, 10, 16), that people will root where they will be grafted in the Gentiles made believers (cf. Rom 11.17-18. 24). (CIC 61) The patriarchs, prophets and other Old Testament have been and always will be honored as saints in all the liturgical traditions of the Church.
